VOORHEES, New Jersey (WPVI) -- A rare genetic disease affected his arteries at birth, but it hasn't stopped Isaiah Jones from having a huge heart.
Jones was born with Generalized Arterial Calcification of Infancy (GACI), with which calcium builds up in the blood vessels.
He was told he had 24 hours to live. 20 years later, Isaiah Jones is here to sing, dance, and root for his favorite Philadelphia sports teams.
Still, Jones requires around-the-clock care.
A few years ago, a nursing shortage made it difficult for his parents to keep him under their own roof. They sought a temporary solution to keep him out of the hospital.
What they discovered turned out to be his new home: Voorhees Pediatric Facility.
The facility has roughly 500 employees specializing in all areas. There, they can provide care that children cannot safely acquire in their own homes.
Although it was a tough decision for the Jones family, moving in has given Isaiah an opportunity to get 24-hour care, go to school, and meet friends.
